The Open Approach to a Supracondylar Humerus Fracture

چکیده
The open approach to a supracondylar humerus fracture may be needed for fractures, vascular compromise, and most commonly, irreducible fractures refractory closed management. Gartland types III IV as well flexion-type are more likely require an technique. Vascular compromise can overt is the case of white, pulseless extremity or subtle with “pink, pulseless” extremity. use Doppler signals intraoperatively helpful distinguish which cases warrant exploration. Intraoperative signs irreducibility include persistent gapping at site, loss Baumann’s angle, discontinuous columns on oblique views. In scenario technique necessary, our recommended setup involves positioning patient supine operating table radiolucent hand attached. An anterior antecubital fossa both cosmetic extensile. This preferred rreducible extension-type suspected interposition brachialis muscle fascia, median nerve sensory deficits, medial best ulnar entrapment, posterolateral displacement, unstable necessitating pinning. Postoperative treatment similar after pinning fracture.

Supracondylar Fracture of the Humerus
Supracondytar fractures of the humerus are common in childhood, and in less developed countries many late malunions are seen. A restricted range of elbow movement often makes it difficult to measure varus-valgus deformity clinically. This can be assessed from bony points but may be hindered by chronic swelling around the elbow. In these cases the pronation-supination range of the forearm is alm...
متن کاملManagement of pediatric open supracondylar humerus fracture using external
Open supracondylar fractures of the humerus are rare in children, and the treatment strategy for these fractures is yet to be standardized. We present the case of an 8-year-old boy with open supracondylar humerus fracture that was managed with an external wrist fixator. A good clinical outcome was achieved in this case, without the development of any complications over a 6-month follow-up period.

Seventy-eight supracondylar fractures of the humerus in children were reviewed to compare four kinds of treatment: closed reduction and immobilization in a cast or splint, overhead skeletal traction, side-arm skeletal traction, and Dunlop's skin traction. The skeletal traction device usually used was a winged screw of our own design. The arms treated in overhead traction had significantly less ...
متن کاملIpsilateral fracture of the supracondylar humerus and forearm in children
Introduction: Simultaneous ipsilateral fracture of the elbow and forearm (floating elbow) is an uncommon injury and treatment recommendations are controversial. The aim of our study was to evaluate the incidence of ipsilateral fractures of the upper limb and to present our experience in dealing with such injuries and to review the literature relating to this topic. The following variables were ...
متن کاملSecond fracture of the distal humerus after varus malunion of a supracondylar fracture in children.
Nine children sustained a second fracture of the distal humerus after union of an ipsilateral supracondylar fracture which had healed with cubitus varus. There were eight boys and one girl with a mean age of five years (1 to 8) at the time of the second fracture which occurred at a mean of 1.5 years after the first. In all patients, the second fracture was an epiphyseal injury of the distal hum...
